Did your song get less than 1,000 streams? You're not alone

Weekly Newsletter #129

The numbers are in! 158 million songs had less than 1,000 streams in the past year. Even more so, more than 45 million songs didn’t even have a single play!

However, with the recently announced changes of Spotify’s royalty structure, you would need to get at least 1,000 streams in order to qualify for any type of royalty payout.

Luminate calculated that a total of 86.2% of the 184 million music tracks it measured in 2023 via ISRCs each received 1,000 or less streams.

And almost 25% of all the music on streaming services received zero plays in 2023!

Furthermore, Luminate’s report calculated that there are around 103,500 new tracks delivered to the streaming platforms each day in 2023, which is an increase of 10.8% from 2022.

Now if you are one of those artists that had less than 1,000 streams on your recent release, don’t worry - as you can see, you are not alone. Luckily at Soar Music Group we are known to help upcoming musicians as well as high-performing artists and record labels with the promotion of their music.
